New Crime Hub coming to Fleet Street

February 9, 2023

Whilst this is not new news it is something which hasn’t been given as much publicity as its importance demands and as construction is now underway I though a short post about what is going on in Fleet Street would be interesting

The construction of a brand-new state-of-the-art court is going ahead, creating a new flagship London court on Fleet Street as part of The Salisbury Square Development.

The new development will be able to provide a total of 18 hearing rooms, an extra 10 hearing rooms (taking the London total to 18 hearing rooms) as well as a new police headquarters and new shops and restaurants to add to the area.

This new court will be focusing on high-level fraud, cyber and economic crime as Fraud is now the most common crime in the United Kingdom. Policy Chairman at the City of London Corporation, Chris Hayward, said:

“The Salisbury Square Development will play a vital role in ensuring we can adapt to the changing demands of policing and delivering justice, supporting the UK economy and helping attract international business.”

As well as providing a new development into the area, this will be the first court in over 70 years to have the foundation stone inscribed with ‘KC’ (Kings Counsel) and it will also be the first court laid under the reign of King Charles III.

The new court will be fitted with all current available courtroom technology. This includes large screens and cameras to enable video evidence to be seamlessly transmitted and received with other court locations. This is a huge leap for London’s legal sector as it supports the local economy by generating 400 new jobs and supporting over 2000.

This investment will be the new heart of Fleet Street and we are extremely excited here at XBundle to watch the development arise opposite our Fleet Street Office. We will be posting photos of significant stages of construction over the next coming months.
